Chappelle also talked his "irrational fear" of raccoons, his problem with Key & Peele's "created by" credit, and much more.

While he was no longer in the spotlight, he escaped to South Africa and found a way to move around and continue doing what he loved sans the hype and noise of Hollywood. "'Chappelle's Show's" like breakin' up with a girl and you still like her. "With a guy like him, man, you gotta understand, he was iconic in my mind". "I'm not goin' back, '" Chappelle said. "Fame is a horrifying concept when it's aimed at you, you know?" he said. And at the end of the day, ultimately, I didn't feel good about what I did. For now, Chappelle has turned his attention to living a reclusive life in OH and touring the country. "And I think about that when I engage people, how these moments are just moments, but they mean so much".

(Radio.com) Dave Chappelle famously impersonated Prince on his Comedy Central series Chappelle's Show.

Now, having returned from his self-imposed comedy exile to sign a three-special, $60m deal with Netflix, Chappelle has given an interview with The New Yorker discussing, among other things, his feelings on the artist with which he is so inexorably linked.

In past stand-up appearances, Chappelle made comments about the sketch-comedy show, sarcastically asking things like "I wonder how they came up with a show that amusing". "He basically said to me that comedy is a reconciliation of paradox", Chappelle told King. And it's like, "Well, that's 10 minutes long".

Addressing his Chappelle's Show conclusion (and the millions of dollars he left on the table in the process), Chappelle likened the experience to a painful break-up. It should be five minutes long.' Why should it be five minutes long? That I was in this very successful place, but the emotional content of it didn't feel anything like what I imagined success should feel like. "I think there was a speculation that Dave doesn't like Key & Peele", King began (that would be putting it mildly - last October Chappelle said he's been "watching Key & Peele do my show the last five fucking years").
