Sources said the agents had urged him to stay away two days earlier, after the window incident, but he refused - and apparently returned to spying on her.

Secret Service agents have detained a man who begged Malia Obama to marry him at her internship and even pretended to be blind to stalk the former first daughter.

Just to be clear, Malia Obama can not even complete her internships before college peacefully because some man believes she owes him an audience and her attention, and that his creepy stalker behavior would make her want to marry him.

The two Secret Service agents assigned to Obama's detail told him to leave.

The next day, agents interviewed Cardoso at his apartment, "concluded he had psychiatric issues, and took him to a Brooklyn hospital for evaluation". According to the Daily News, they recognised him as a man who had "repeatedly tried to get into the White House in the past". It is understood no charges have been laid at this point in time.

While the casual warm-weather look may be quite a departure from the more staid summer style that both she and sister Sasha sported a year ago when their father was still in office, it's only the latest in a line of edgier post-POTUS fashion choices the elder Obama daughter has recently made, including the high-waisted jeans she rocked on her first day of work and the colorful beanies she sported at Sundance.

Just because she's a former first daughter doesn't mean that her spring style isn't eminently relatable: Malia Obama is striding into the season with a little shirtdress swagger.

Malia Obama began her internship with The Weinstein Company, whose offices are in New York's Tribeca neighbourhood, in January.

The 18-year-old is set to start school at Harvard College in the fall.
