Dans les pages du Monde de ce jeudi, Arnaud Lagardère, le PDG du groupe Lagardère, annonce qu'il "a décidé de prendre la présidence d'Europe 1". Il ne prévoit pas non plus de plan d'économies supplémentaires, après celui mis en place l'an dernier. "Pour ces raisons, j'ai décidé de prendre la présidence d'Europe 1", a déclaré Arnaud Lagardère au Monde. "J'avais ainsi pris la présidence de notre branche sports puis passé la main après l'avoir redressée".

Cette arrivée tonitruante du grand patron aux commandes de cette filiale en difficulté (ses comptes sont dans le rouge depuis plusieurs mois) sonne comme un désaveu pour le patron de Lagardère Active et président d'Europe 1 Denis Olivennes, qui reste néanmoins dans le groupe.

Les changements de grilles n'ont pas permis d'enrayer les pertes d'auditeurs: au premier trimestre 2017, Europe 1 a enregistré ses plus mauvais scores d'audience depuis au moins 12 ans.

Ce changement de direction avait été évoqué dès janvier, au vu des résultats en berne. Un exemple? La station de la rue François 1er se mord encore les doigts de n'avoir pas su garder Laurent Ruquier, parti aux Grosses Têtes de RTL en 2013. "Je veux qu'il se concentre sur des moteurs de croissance comme la production audiovisuelle, le numérique, la santé, les chaînes thématiques".

Arnaud Lagardère souligne qu'une nouvelle équipe sera nommée rapidement, avec à sa tête un directeur "qui incarne la station, qui y soit matin, midi et soir, et la nuit s'il le faut, probablement un professionnel de la radio, qui ait ce métier au fond de lui".

L'actionnaire indique cependant qu'il n'interviendra pas dans l'éditorial de la radio.

Surprise chez Europe 1. "Quelqu'un qui soit fort de caractère mais ait aussi la souplesse d'attirer des talents", ajoute-t-il. Par conséquent, aucune de ces informations ne peut être reproduite, modifiée, transmise, rediffusée, traduite, vendue, exploitée commercialement ou réutilisée de quelque manière que ce soit sans l'accord préalable écrit de l'AFP.
