While the eggs symbolise new life, the Easter Bunny is more popularly recognised as the judge of good and evil in Christian folklore.

In his Easter Greetings to the Christian community, the Archbishop said Easter celebrates the rising of Jesus from death to a new life, reminding us that light conquers darkness, love conquers hatred and truth conquers deceit.

Easter Sunday marks the close of the 40 days of lent which Christians commit themselves to by observing fasting, abstinence and goodwill to all.

Many celebrated Easter service at St. Theresa Catholic church in Palm Springs Sunday morning.

Jesus appeared in all kinds of places - in locked rooms, along the road, in the midst of fear and doubt, injustice and despair, to people who longed for meaning, purpose, wholeness and faith, and certainly in the joys of being found, healings, people being fed, the discovery of God's way and will. Recognising the celebrations, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak took to Twitter today to wish Christians in the country a "Happy Easter". "Easter is about mystery of god".

Mr Ledua said Easter was also a day that saw a significant increase in church attendances as Christians came out from their busy schedule to be part of the important event in the Christian history.
