However, they do add that there is no official confirmation from the UFC that his slot on the fight card has been removed.

"I really wanted to fight in Brazil, in my country, but it will not happen", Silva said during a live Instagram video interview with UOL on Sunday.

A week after voicing his discontent with the lack of an opponent for Rio de Janeiro's UFC 212, Anderson Silva likely won't compete on June 3 after all. "I want to apologize for this".

"I stayed here for a long time for training", Silva said on MMA Hour. What happens to the people who paid to see my fight in Brazil. "This is not my fault for Gastelum to go out of the fight". I think I've been hurt in this.

Last week, Silva went on a rant and claimed he'd be done if he wasn't given an interim middleweight title shot at UFC 212. UFC President Dana White didn't seem to budge on Silva's demands and said that if any fighter is even considering retiring, they probably should.

"I'm very disappointed, the guys don't respect my legacy, don't respect my story in the sport".

The 42-year-old Silva was originally scheduled to face rising middleweight contender Kelvin Gastelum on the UFC 212 bill, but on April 6, Gastelum was flagged for cannabinoid metabolites in a post-fight drug sample collected following his March 11 win over Vitor Belfort in Fortaleza, Brazil.

After news broke of the fight being scrapped, Silva made it clear he still wished to fight on the card.

On Sunday night, "The Spider" announced during a live stream on his Instagram page that he has chose to cancel his training camp in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and go back to Los Angeles, where his family lives. Would you like to see the UFC re-book a bout between "The Spider" and Gastelum, or do you expect the Brazilian legend to hang up his gloves for good?
