The East Coast burger chain was named consumers' favorite hamburger chain in Harris Poll's annual brand report.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries, which also serves hot dog sandwiches, is America's favorite burger chain.

And in the same survey from 2013, Five Guys jumped from 48% familiarity to 68% today.

The Harris study, in its 29th year, measures the strength of brands across various media - from travel to finance to restaurants.

But do you think Five Guys is seriously the best? McDonald's did score highest in familiarity, but its other two scores were on the low end, resulting in its poor standing in the rankings. After McDonald's it was No. 8 Sonic, 9.

The first Five Guys opened in 1986, in Arlington, Va. This year's poll has crowned a new burger king.

Five Guys, which is now headquartered in Lorton, Va., now has over 1,000 locations in the U.S.

In-N-Out was founded in California in 1948 and has more than 300 locations in California, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Oregon and Utah. The chain is popular for its simple and tasty burgers available with a slew of toppings to suit every taste and preference. The poll revealed even more interesting information about American's eating habits: Thanks to millennial voters, Starbucks just barely edged out Dunkin Donuts - the victor for the past three years - as their number one Coffee & Quick Service Restaurant (poeple do love their Frappuccinos), while Subway, for the seventh year in a row, was voted the best sandwich shop.
