Manchester United to hijack Chelsea's move for Antonio Conte's missed transfer target

After some excellent seasons, Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan is increasingly being linked with Premier League giants on a regular basis.

Manchester United reportedly enter the race to sign in-demand Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan during the summer transfer window. The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to battle and are looking to beat rivals Chelsea in the pursuit of the Belgian midfielder.

With this in mind, Mourinho's interest in Nainggolan makes ideal sense: a midfielder whose first instinct on the ball is always to press forward and has, over the last few months, developed a lethal eye for goal, often arriving late to spring himself on opponents with a tantalising mixture of skill and power.

He said of the Premier League: "I watch it a lot".

However, the player has had a rather controversial career to date, which saw Real Madrid and Barcelona back off from pursuing the player after showing interest in him initially.

Manchester United would get, in Radja, a near-mirror image of Paul Scholes, who too, was famous for his tackling and had the ability to add goals to his team's cause from the midfield.

Despite being interested and having opened talks with Roma, Manchester United's interest in Nainggolan is believed to be in its infancy, and no deal has been agreed to take him to Old Trafford. The aforementioned triumvirate have mustered just 13 between them this season.

Nainggolan is believed to be reluctant to sign a new deal to extend his stay in the Italian capital.
