Fox News' Guilfoyle up for White House press secretary job

Deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders could run the on-camera briefings once Trump returns from his trip overseas, leaving Spicer to handle a broader messaging role, the source said, confirming a report first published by Politico.

"I think it'd be a fascinating job".

President Donald Trump tweeted Friday that, because his aides can't speak with "perfect accuracy", it might be best "to cancel all future "press briefings" and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy". She has praised Russian President Vladimir Putin and once suggested that Secret Service agents should "kill" rappers Snoop Dogg and Bow Wow for making disparaging comments about the president.

President Donald Trump is considering scaling back White House press secretary Sean Spicer's public role, according to several officials familiar with the president's thinking, as Trump also weighs a broader shakeup of his communications shop in the wake of several scandals ...

But the co-host of Fox News' The Five revealed a political edge that might be suited to a factionalised and chaos-fuelled White House.

Regular viewers of her Fox program might not be surprised by these developments - in the last week, Guilfoyle has essentially tried out for the job on air.

The communications team at the Trump White House could be in for a shake-up.

She spent most of the time explaining why she'd do a great job speaking for Trump, even talking about how tough it would be to leave her gig on The Five. It also comes amid speculation that Trump - again - is considering changes to his White House staff.

What's more, another official said that the Trump administration is planning on reducing its number of televised briefings in general, which reflects a broader dissatisfaction with his communications team on the president's part. In fact, another adviser, Newt Gingrich told Poilitico the White House should close the press briefing room in the White House.

I think of it now because of the swirling rumors about the man who leads the daily news briefings inside the White House.

But there are others that are saying that they are surprised that someone from Trump favorite Fox News would be so bold as to undercut a Trump employee who was still in the office the way Guilfoyle is thought to be disrespecting Sean Spicer.

Spicer, whose combative approach with the news media has been lampooned on Saturday Night Live, last month faced a barrage of criticism after he compared Hitler with Syrian President Bashar Assad in a televised briefing with reporters.

Spicer "let down" the president during an April briefing in which he falsely asserted that German dictator Adolf Hitler didn't use poisonous gas on his own people. Named for the historic Silk Road, the project is also created to cast China as the new leading defender of free trade, stepping into a geopolitical role President Trump's protectionist rhetoric threatens to leave vacant.
