Review: Motorola's G5 Plus Doesn't Need MotoMods To Impress

Motorola's new smartphones are starting to emerge.

From the teaser above we can see that Motorola has maintained the position of the Moto Mods connector pins. The series will be a substitute for the currently-running Moto E series, but with better affordability. While we're still in the dark as to when the two products will go live, we have to assume it's going to be quite soon. The Moto C Plus with 1GB of RAM will cost €119, and there is no official confirmation about the 3GB RAM variant. A couple of months ago, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus were launched. The Moto E series will sit between the Moto C and Moto G lineup. With a 2 megapixel front-facing camera and selfie light and an 8 megapixel rear-camera with LED flash, you'll always get beautifully sharp pictures and ideal selfies.

While Motorola has officially announced the Moto C and C Plus, screen size or resolution wasn't mentioned in the blog post where the announcement was made. Both phones are said to run Nougat out of the box.

The camera end of Moto C smartphone sports a 5 MP primary camera with a 74-degree field of view, fixed focus lens and an LED flash. The phones will be released this spring across Latin America, Europe, and the Asian-Pacific. While Blass did not mention anything about the smartphone itself, another leak gives consumers an idea of what to expect from the upcoming device. Optics carries an 8-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels, autofocus, 71-degree field of view and a LED flash. The company already released two phones at the start of the week in the newly-minted Moto C series, which is now the entry-level tier for the brand.

Apart from the Moto G5 and G5 Plus, the Motorola smartphones will also launch Moto G5S and G5S Plus. However, its rear-camera is upgraded to an 8MP rear-camera with LED flash. The smartphone does not support LTE, but may come with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. Thanks to this, the battery life of the Moto C Plus will be longer than the one of the C, even though it has a higher resolution display.
