Arsenal Transfer News Gunners to announce signing of Bundesliga star

The North London club have won the race to sign the Bosnian defender, beating competition from the likes of Juventus and Chelsea for his signature.

Sead Kolasinac arrives at Arsenal immediately among their highest paid players. Shortly after the announcement, the 23-year-old German-born Bosnia and Herzegovina global took to Facebook to thank his fans and talk about the move.

Kolasinac previously played worldwide football for Germany at underage level, before switching allegiance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is his parents' homeland.

In addition to the club's statement, Arsenal's new signing has confirmed the move himself on Twitter, also providing Arsenal supporters with a handy pronunciation guide for his name.

"I feel very happy at Arsenal and I feel important because Wenger has given me confidence".

Nacho Monreal will have to battle Kolasinac for a first team place, but Gibbs - reduced to a back-up role already - is likely to be sold.

The Bosnian worldwide will now compete with Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs for the first-team left-back slot, although Arsenal's switch to a 3-4-3 towards the end of last season could see a left-wing back role also in the offing.

"I think my main strength is my mentality".

Kolasinac is the first Arsenal signing since Wenger agreed a new two-year contract last month.

"I can play as part of a three at the back too or further forward".
