All Blacks coach Steve Hansen wants his charges to take full advantage of their opportunities

First Person - Ahead of the Lions tour of New Zealand, Barry Guy remembers the shock of being 9 years old and realising his father was rooting for the Lions in their 1971 series against the All Blacks.

The First Test takes place in Auckland on June 24th, and Jones has warned of a "tough old series" if Gatland's side lose in Eden Park.

Gatland led the Lions to a series victory in Australia in 2013 using a tactic, dubbed "Warrenball", which involves sending big ball carriers crashing across the gainline to draw in defenders and then looking to exploit gaps out wide.

'Our fans are pretty well educated and even though Gats has called them arrogant, I don't think they are arrogant, I think they are well informed and have high expectations of us, ' he said.

"It was a good opportunity to move on, otherwise it would have been a long time to your next game if you were not involved in any of the summer tours". "They're legends. It's worth the effort and the sacrifice needed". "Everyone is on the same page with what we're trying to do and all I can say about the last week is being part of it has been brilliant". You find out they are really good blokes and you get on well.

Rob Andrew: "Rugby's just everywhere in New Zealand, they hate losing to anybody anywhere in the world, but particularly at home".

"And if you look at the fact how well the New Zealand Super Rugby sides are playing, it shows exactly where they are and the quality of players they've got".

The new jersey proudly pays homage to the 113-year history between the British and Irish Lions and the All Blacks and features a new one-off designed All Blacks crest, inspired by that worn by the All Blacks in 1930. "It will be down to results in the end".

In New Zealand the situation is far from flawless, although a few of those injured have been making a slow but sure return to the game after being out for several weeks. Everyone in their country wants to be an All Black and that helps. New Zealand sides do not often come up against teams who play like that.

While the physical challenge goes without saying on the tour, much focus has been placed on the kicking battle.

"The series in New Zealand will be a contrast in styles".

New Zealand are 1/4 on to win the series, while the Lions are 9/2 against and I know which odds tempt me more.

"If we get that right and make sure that we're on the same page as quick as possible then I think this squad will challenge anyone".

"Everyone firmly believes we're going out to win and that's the way it should be".

The Lions had been to New Zealand five years earlier and were soundly thrashed 4-0.

George Kruis: "If you're going to beat the All Blacks you might as well do it the hard way".
