Incendie d'une tour à Londres. Theresa May, Elizabeth II, deux approches opposées

'Cinquante-huit personnes dont on nous a dit qu'elles étaient dans le tour Grenfell cette nuit-là sont portées disparues et je dois par conséquent présumer avec tristesse qu'elles sont mortes', a déclaré le chef de la police londonienne, Stuart Cundy, lors d'une déclaration à la presse.

L'incendie, dont l'origine reste encore inconnue, a fait au moins 30 morts, selon un bilan encore provisoire. "J'espère que ce ne sera pas le cas, mais il pourrait augmenter", a-t-il ajouté, précisant que sur ce nouveau bilan, 30 décès étaient confirmés.

"A la suite de l'identification formelle, ce samedi, de six ressortissants marocains décédés dans l'incendie meurtrier qui a ravagé la tour de Grenfell à Londres dans la nuit du 13 au 14 juin", le roi Mohammed VI a donné ses instructions aux autorités marocaines "pour prendre en charge les frais de rapatriement des dépouilles et apporter toute l'aide et l'appui nécessaires aux familles des victimes", indique le ministère dans un communiqué.

La Première ministre Theresa May a rendu visite vendredi à des blessés à l'hôpital de Chelsea et Westminster.

Les manifestants reprochent aussi aux autorités locales de ne pas avoir entendu leurs cris d'alerte concernant la sécurité du bâtiment de 24 étages, parce qu'ils provenaient d'une population majoritairement modeste.

Près de 600 personnes habitaient dans cet immeuble de 120 appartements et, selon les médias britanniques, 70 personnes manqueraient encore à l'appel.

De nombreux résidents ont affirmé qu'il n'y avait pas d'issue de secours, pas d'extincteur, pas d'alarmes incendie.

"Theresa May a eu trop peur de rencontrer les survivants de Grenfell".

Un autre rassemblement a eu lieu dans la soirée au niveau d'Oxford Circus, bloquant la circulation. Evoquant la tour Grenfell et sa sinistre façade calcinée, le journal estimait que cette "tombe dans le ciel sera à jamais le monument de Theresa May".

La cheffe du gouvernement britannique ne s'est rendue que vendredi au chevet des victimes de l'incendie.
