Trump confirms he's under investigation, fires angry tweets

Rosenstein appointed special counsel Robert Mueller to investigate alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 USA election, and has told lawmakers he would only fire him with good cause.

The somewhat vague tweet seems to refer to Rosenstein, who wrote a memo outlining an argument against former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James B. Comey.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein reiterated in a recent meeting that he may have to recuse himself from overseeing the special counsel's investigation into Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 election, sources told ABC News.

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller was investigating whether Trump attempted to obstruct justice in relation to ongoing investigations of Russian influence in the 2016 election.

"The message the president is sending through his tweets is that he believes the rule of law doesn't apply to him and that anyone who thinks otherwise will be fired", Feinstein said. And there is no evidence that Mueller recommended to Trump that he fire Comey.

"They made up a phoney collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phoney story".

A White House spokeswoman declined to comment and referred questions to Trump's personal attorney Marc Kasowitz.

Trump, who hired his own lawyer last month to represent him regarding probes by the special counsel and congressional committees, continued his harsh criticism of the investigations in series of tweets on Friday. The order also covers separate inquiries into several key Trump associates including former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, campaign adviser Paul Manafort, foreign policy aide Carter Page and outside adviser Roger Stone. "You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people!"

"Failure to follow these protocols could result in criminal or civil penalties, and could form the basis of legal claims, legal presumptions, or jury instructions relating to spoliation of evidence", the memo states.
