Jared Kushner Is Now Under Special Counsel Investigation For His Financial Dealings With Russia

The business and financial dealings of Jared Kushner - President Donald Trump's son-in-law and top adviser - are now under investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller, the Washington Post reported late Thursday. Kushner has been discussing the matter with Abbe Lowell, a prominent trial lawyer.

"We do not know what this report refers to", attorney Jamie Gorelick said in a statement.

Special counsel #Robert Mueller has added 13 lawyers to his panel to undertake the Russian Federation probe.

As the Post noted, Kushner is just the latest associate of the president to be under scrutiny for questionable business dealings with Russian Federation.

Mueller's inquiry includes Kushner among other Trump's associates - former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and a campaign policy adviser Carter Page, The Washington Post claimed citing unnamed sources on Thursday.

USA officials familiar with the investigation told The Washington Post about its financial focus Thursday.

The Russian bank, Vnesheconombank, which has been the subject of United States sanctions following Russia's annexation of Crimea, has said Gorkov and Kushner's meeting was held for business reasons because of the advisor's role as head of his family's real estate company. At the time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was primarily interested in a meeting between Kushner and Russian ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak.

Comey testified before the Senate last week, and stated that Trump spoke with him privately on several occasions in person and over the telephone.

He decried a "witch hunt" that he said is being "led by some very bad and conflicted people!" Flynn was forced to resign for misleading administration officials about his contacts with Russia's USA ambassador. He was one of the architects of Trump's recent foreign trip, which especially in its visits to Saudi Arabia and Israel went smoothly and mostly gaffe-free.

According to reports, three of the 13 newly-hired members of Mueller's investigative team have donated to Democrats in the past. Trump also fired James Comey, former FBI Director, in May.

But days later he said in an NBC interview that he had made a decision to fire Comey before getting their input and he was thinking of "this Russian Federation thing" when he did it.

But days later, Trump said in an NBC interview that he had chose to fire Comey before getting their input and he was thinking of "this Russian Federation thing" when he did it. Trump and the White House disputed Comey's description of the events. He's been building a team of investigators for a wide-ranging inquiry into Russia's meddling in the 2016 US presidential campaign.

"I think he's weighing that option", he said of Trump.

Trump spoke to Coats and Rogers about the Russian Federation investigation, according to officials.

Coats and Rogers told a Senate panel a week ago they did not feel pressured by Trump to intervene in the case, but declined to say what Trump asked them to do.
