DUP talks not going as expected - Sky sources

The Queen also made no mention of any state visit by Donald Trump, fuelling speculation that the planned trip is set to be ditched after the US President reportedly said he did not want to come to the United Kingdom if there was a risk of being greeted by protests.

Theresa May's fragile minority government began negotiations to leave the European Union on Monday.

The DUP's £2bn demand for health and infrastructure emerged in briefings to the BBC in Northern Ireland, which said the party was also seeking cuts to corporation tax.

The Government also plans to set out the opportunities presented by our departure from the European Union in order to construct a society which "works for everyone".

May's alliance could undermine the Good Friday agreement, which ended decades of sectarian violence and was a major development in the Northern Ireland peace process of the 1990s.

Despite the tension, a DUP MP said Thursday that there is a "very good" chance they and the Conservatives will agree on a parliamentary deal by next week.

A DUP source claimed an agreement was "certainly not imminent".

Amid reports the talks between the DUP and Tories stalled earlier in the week, Mr Hamilton said the two sides had been engaging well "over the last 24 hours". Four militant attacks have raised questions about her grip on national security, and the death of at least 79 people in a tower block fire has become a flashpoint for public anger at her party's record in government.

The DUP, which won 292,316 votes in the election, does not want to sink May's government because it fears Jeremy Corbyn, who has in the past appeared beside their Irish nationalist opponents Sinn Fein, could get into power.

But she insisted there would be no going back on Brexit, pointing out that more than 80 per cent of voters on June 8 backed parties promising to honour the referendum result.

"Theresa May has no mandate for the direction she is taking the country".

It also said ministers would "bring forward measures to help tackle unfair practices in the energy market", but made no mention of the cap promised during the election campaign.

It comes at a time of unprecedented political flux with May yet to secure a deal to prop up her government after a botched snap election left her short of a majority.

"I offer the condolences of the Irish people and the Irish Government to the British people on the enormous tragedies this this country and city has faced in recent weeks", Mr Varadkar said. Determined to deliver the best Brexit deal.

The government set out details of this "Great Repeal Bill" in March.
