Pence told reporters in Miami Friday that hiring an outside lawyer was standard practice.

He praised U.S. President Donald Trump's tough stance against illegal immigration, saying it was responsible for a more than 70 percent drop in illegal crossings of the U.S. -Mexico border since the beginning of his administration in January.

Pence, who after the election served as head of Trump's White House transition team, has stood by Trump's assertion that there are no ties between Trump's campaign and Russian Federation.

Pence has stood by his March statement that he first learned of the now-fired national security adviser Michael Flynn's ties to Turkey from media reports. Flynn was sacked after he lied to Pence and others about not having spoken during the transition with the Russian ambassador about the sanctions imposed on the country by the Obama administration. But Trump later said he was going to fire Comey regardless of the recommendation. He represents former FIFA President Sepp Blatter in the corruption probe into world soccer's governing body. Those policies, relations with Cuba, investigations into any collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign and Pence hiring outside counsel are grabbing headlines in what some call a contentious political climate.

While James Comey was FBI director, he told President Trump he was not personally under investigation when the president asked him, but that applied only to the period preceding his May 9 firing.

"We want to people to know as Hoosiers we do not support Pence and the policies that he represents", Annette Gross, an organizer of the protest said.

The obstruction of justice investigation into Trump began days after Comey was sacked, according to people familiar with the matter, the Washington Post said.

Cullen is no stranger to high-profile federal investigations: He served as special counsel to former Sen.

Cullen worked on President George W. Bush's legal team during the Florida recount in the 2000 presidential election.

Cullen, 69, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., raised in Staunton and graduated from the University of Richmond's T.C. Williams School of Law in 1977.

"What happens in the Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala directly affects the security and economic interests of the United States and other countries in the region", Tillerson said.

Before delivering a speech to leaders and senior officials of Central America nations and Mexico, the vice president said: "The American people are grateful for these courageous police officers". There are few restrictions on how politicians can use funds in leadership PACs.

At a conference on Central American security and economic issues, officials in the administration of President Donald Trump repeatedly said that strengthening the US border and reducing the flow of migrants- key elements of Trump's agenda - depend on stabilizing a region that has been engulfed in drug-fueled violence in recent years.

"I think based on what he said then, there doesn't appear to be any there there", Cornyn said.
