ANU's Wilson Says Trump Is No Match for Putin

Sunday morning on Twitter, Trump placed the blame for meddling in the 2016 election on the Democrats, and stated, "Putin & I discussed forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, & many other negative things, will be guarded and safe".

And according to Tillerson and Trump - there were no independent accounts of their meeting with their Russian counterparts - Russia's Vladimir Putin denied any Russian government role in the election interference, as he has in the past. He vehemently denied it.

President Donald Trump is tweeting that "it is time to move forward in working constructively with Russian Federation!" after his meeting with Vladimir Putin. But he is still avoiding the question of whether he accepts Putin's denial that Russian Federation was responsible for meddling in the 2016 election.

The DNC says they turned over everything that was requested of them by federal law enforcement, including a carbon copy of its hacked server.

Trump's intelligence chiefs, including the Director of National Intelligence, CIA, Defense Intelligence Agency, NSA, and Federal Bureau of Investigation each testified that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 election during a Senate hearing May 11.

The Kremlin also does not know the Russian lawyer who allegedly met Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., Trump's campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, last year, two weeks after Trump won the Republican nomination for the US presidency, Peskov told a conference call with reporters.

Priebus' comments Sunday morning came as the latest assurance from the Trump administration that the President believes Russian Federation attempted to influence the 2016 election, which was the conclusion of the USA intelligence community.

"The president was multiple times asked Putin whether or not he was involved", said Sanders.

Mr Trump said previously he believed Russian Federation was likely to have been involved in election hacking but that other countries were too.

Trump signaled Sunday sanctions should be kept in place for leverage.

The meeting on Friday was between Trump, Putin, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He said ahead of the meeting that, "Nobody knows for sure". He said Trump had spent a "large part of the meeting on the subject", but wanted to move onto other subjects. Trump Sunday continued to downplay Russia's role in the 2016 election that landed him in the White House. I think it could well have been other countries.
