Ander Herrera commits himself to Manchester United future

Ander Herrera will sign a new Manchester United contract worth £200,000 a week, according to reports.

The 27-year-old Spain global has grown in leaps and bounds since joining from Athletic Bilbao back in 2014, and was a vital player last season for Mourinho, making 50 appearances and winning the club's Player of the Year awards as a reward for his inspired performances.

However, the United midfielder has now put an end to speculation saying he was not willing to leave the club this summer at any cost.

"He's happy and I know I sound repetitive because I always say the same thing", said Herrera.

"There's no truth to Barcelona because I'm very happy at United".

United failed to reach an agreement with Real Madrid for the striker and signed Romelu Lukaku instead.

"Too bad he's not with us, but I wish him well".

Herrera told Spanish publication Marca: "Madrid are the most powerful side at the moment".

"I'll be just as motivated".

It's added that Herrera may even captain United on a regular basis next season given Michael Carrick isn't expected to play every game, and so coupled with this deal, it looks as though he's set to really cement his place in the line-up and club moving forward.

"Getting back into the Champions League was fundamental to the club because we are going to be one of the rivals to beat".

Herrera earned plenty of praise for his performances for Manchester United under Mourinho last season as he helped the Red Devils win the EFL Cup and Europa League in the Portuguese coach's first campaign in charge.
