Players such as Paulinho, Miralem Pjanic and Jean-Michaël Seri have been linked with a move to Camp Nou this summer, but it seems it's either Verratti or bust for newly-appointed manager Ernesto Valverde.

"I came here to play with Marco Verratti, that's the message I want him to get".

However, PSG have so far refused to open negotiations with Barca and as things stand the midfielder looks set to remain at the Parc des Princes.

Valverde also stressed he is in no great hurry for new signings, as Barca already boast a squad of players that is hard to improve. "We've not had any offers for any players in our squad", Fernandez told reporters.

"For me, they're not for sale".

Questioned on Barca's interest in Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, Valverde stuck to the same line, saying: "It's hard to improve what we have in the team".

Yesterday technical director Robert Fernandez confirmed Barca are still in pursuit.

"There's a lot of time ahead of us [in the window], so there is no need to rush", he said when asked about the Verratti situation. "But my idea is always to work with the players in my squad". "For me, the best signings are those who are in my team".

Barcelona confirm they are still interested in signing Marco Verratti, but Andre Gomes and Ivan Rakitic will stay put.

Meanwhile, he also denied the claim in Diario Sport on Monday that Neymar is "uncomfortable" at the club and is keen to move somewhere else where he can become the star player.

"It's not our intention to lose players, certainly not good players".
