The dastardly Amarnath terror attack was strongly condemned by the Lok Sabha MPs.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar told reporters Modi said: "Law is there for cow protection in the country".

The stand-off between India and China in the Doklam plateau in the tri-junction of India, China and Bhutan, is now a month old, with no end to it yet in sight.

In his address to floor leaders of parties in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, Modi sought opposition support in fighting the issue of violence done in the name of cow protection.

"We will try and put the government on the mat and demand answers on some key issues that are posing a threat to the country's social harmony", a senior opposition leader said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the all-party meet, said advancing the Budget by a month helped increase overall expenditure by almost 30%, with a 48% rise in spending on infrastructure development.

"The Congress will demand inclusion of petroleum, electricity and real estate in the GST", Surjewala said.

However, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are unlikely to transact any business tomorrow and adjourn till July 18 on the account of the death of its members: Vinod Khanna (Lok Sabha) and Anil Dave and P. Goverdhan Reddy (Rajya Sabha).

"We will also raise the issues related to mob lynching, agrarian crisis in view of farmer suicides".

"Fear is being spread in the minority community".

Modi's statement assumes significance as the opposition also plans to target the government on several recent instances of violence in the name of cow protection.

On the issue of Kashmir and tensions with China, Kumar said the government had a meeting with opposition leaders and every party has said they were with the government on matters of national security. "We must have confidence in the values we believe in", she said. "There are other issues also which will come up", he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reiteration of stringent action against "hooliganism in the name of cow protection" a day ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament did little to calm the Opposition on Sunday. They (Opposition) should raise their doubts and queries in the House and seek a reply from the government.
