The associated thunderstorm activity does show some signs organization, but still lacks a defined center.

The hurricane center said the storm could develop more over the day or two as it reaches the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean.

A hurricane hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate the area Monday if necessary.

Forecasters gave Invest 95L a 50 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression or storm in the next 48 hours. After that time, less favorable upper-level winds are expected to hinder additional development.

Another wave located about 800 miles WSW of Cape Verde Islands has a low potential of cyclone development.

The system is dealing with dry air, so development, if any, is expected to be slow as the area moves to the west at 15-20 miles per hour.

On July 13 at 1:30 p.m. EDT, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer or MODIS instrument aboard NASA's Terra satellite captured a close-up visible-light image of Hurricane Fernanda as it continued moving west through the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

The storm was heading in the general direction of Hawaii, but forecasters said it is expected to lose strength in the coming days.
