Disney revealed new footage for its live-action "The Lion King" movie at the D23 Expo.

"We know how important this is", director Jon Favreau (who helped pioneer the naturalism of The Jungle Book) said. Not only does he now have a lot of free time given that his commitment to the X-Men franchise is done, but Jackman also posted a cryptic Tweet just yesterday, which seemingly teased a role in a Disney film. The Wrap dug deep into the rumors, contacting Jackman's team where a representative of the actor shut down the claim without hesitation. The crowd, not unsurprisingly, went nuts and that was all there was to say about The Lion King. This looks like another Disney blockbuster after huge successes of Jungle Book and The Beauty and the Beast.

The starry voice cast of "The Lion King" remake includes Donald Glover (Simba), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon) and John Oliver (Zazu).

Jackman certainly has the ferocity to play Scar, and will bring his many talents to the character.

Today, kicked off the biggest day for Disney's D23 Convention.

The Lion King is now slated to arrive in theaters in July 2019 with a voice cast that already includes Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner and John Oliver.
