The death toll in the Assam flood climbed to 60 on Sunday with the authorities reporting one death in Morigaon district.

The Assam minister said that, the state government had also provided feeds to the flood-affected animals in Kaziranga National Park.

“Students from Class I to X whose books have been damaged or lost during the floods can inform their school headmasters before July 25.

Assam Finance and Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the state government has chose to provide textbooks to the flood affected students within the month of August, those lost their textbooks in the flood. "The district officers are finding it hard in reach out to these isolated locations", said Mr Sarma. Providing clean drinking water and fodder for cattle and domestic animals have also been ordered to the district authorities, he added.

"The flood waters submerged around 1,96,700 hectares crop areas of the flood-hit districts and damaging 12 numbers embankments, around 604 roads and culverts and 71 numbers bridge".

In flood-hit Assam, as the situation is gradually improving, the Assam government has stepped up medical relief measures. Jorhat Deputy Commissioner said that health as well as veterinary camps have been organised in the district.

"In order to ensure relief for each and every flood victim, we have set up 711 relief distribution points", said Mr Sarma, adding that there were 1,21,882 people taking shelter in 320 relief camps across the 29 flood-hit districts of the state. Further, all relevant departments have been asked to assess the extent of damage to infrastructure and submit their financial estimate by August 15 next, so that funds can be released and fix work can commence by September-October, the minister said. Reaching out to these people in their villages with relief is a challenge.
