Tampa police arrest suspect in deadly Tampa convenience store robbery

The store's owner was shot to death during an armed robbery.

The Tampa Police Department responded to a call about a robbery on Sunday afternoon at a convenience store located at 2802 N. 29th St. Tampa police said they talked with witnesses and reviewed video from the store and quickly identified Sheffield as a possible suspect.

Christopher Sheffield, 24, was arrested at 4 a.m. after detectives were told he may have been hiding in an apartment complex.

Sheffield was charged with Murder in the First Degree, Robbery with a Firearm, and Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm. They found the store's owner, 60-year-old Mohamoud Ibrahim, shot and killed in what appeared to be an attempted robbery, according to police.
