Mugabe motorcade in two accidents Saturday; biker crashes while Grace injured

The ZBC also reporters that Mrs. Mugabe suffered minor injuries in an accident involving the presidential motorcade soon after the 93 year-old returned home.

State media have provided no further details on the accident, which happened after the Mugabes left the airport in Harare, the capital.

Mugabe had gone to Singapore on July 7 for a what officials described as a routine medical check, his third such trip this year.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle outrider with the Presidential motorcade suffered a fractured arm after crashing into an Isuzu pick-up truck along Airport Road while escorting the First Family from Harare International Airport yesterday morning.

In a statement explaining the Grace Mugabe injury, presidential spokesman George Charamba said; "First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe, suffered some soft tissue bruising on the right ankle as a result of a freak vehicle incident at the Harare International Airport early this morning".

According to the state-controlled media, President Mugabe was accompanied by his wife, Grace, daughter Bona and her husband Simba Chikore.

"The examining doctors confirmed that she suffered no major injury", Charamba said.

No civilian harm was reported and the police officer is expected to make a full recovery.

"The First Lady is recovering at home", he added.
