Mumbai: Senior IAS officer's son found dead, police suspect suicide

According to Malabar Hill Police, Manmath Mhaiskar left his Marine Drive home, Blue Haven apartments, at around 7 am on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Manmat and his family members were informed.

A senior IAS officer's son was found dead near Dariya Mahal building on Nepean Sea Road in south Mumbai today morning. He reportedly committed suicide, jumping from the Dariya Mahal building.

Manmath's father Milind Mhaiskar is the Vice President and CEO of MHADA, whereas his mother Manisha Mhaiskar is the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department.

The police was informed of the incident and arrived on the spot.

While prima facie the incident appears to be a case of suicide, police have not ruled out murder.

The police rushed him to J J Hospital where he was declared dead before admission, the official said.

The body has been sent to JJ hospital for post-mortem. "We have registered a report of accidental death and will investigate towards the same being a case of suicide", she added.

The Mumbai Police is now questioning two his friends in connection with the untimely death.
