Thankfully, Ed seems to have recovered from the backlash, as his Twitter account has been reactivated.

"It is a amusing thing because I really, genuinely believe that if you didn't know who he was, you would have just thought he was one of the gang, effortlessly", he concluded.

Veteran TV director Jeremy Podeswa was the one who had the idea of giving the 26-years old singer the role of a nameless Lannister soldier, a character who, midway through 'Dragonstone, ' entertains his comrades at a campfire with a little song about Tyrion Lannister and his secret, now dead, ex-love Shae.

Ed has always been a humble star and has stayed close to his roots, maintaining a small circle of friends he's known since school and Podeswa emphasised how down to earth he really is.

Podeswa, who has directed six episodes of the popular HBO show, told the Daily Beast that Sheeran was "lovely" and "down-to-earth".

Jeremy explained: "He comes with no entourage". Are they doing a good job?

However, on Tuesday, it was live again, but many of Sheeran's 30,000 tweets, including recent posts and comments from fans, had been deleted.

"I think people interrogated it too much, they're bringing so much of his [superstar] presence into the thing which is far beyond what anybody was thinking going into it".

"I was quite surprised about the reaction actually because I know he's very well known and a successful singer but you're in the bubble of the show-the cast are well known too, everybody is really well known.none of them can walk down the street without being followed. So I think that's the only drag", he finished. "As everybody knows, the show really eschews stunt casting - it's never, ever done that".

With Ed now back on Twitter, things seem to be beginning to get back to normal.

"It's a new one", Ed added.

We did not expect these two to be acting together on the small screen!
