Malakai Fekitoa has reportedly signed to play for French rugby club Toulon, though their owner has taken a freakish stance on confirming the claim.

French newspaper L'Equipe reports club president Mourad Boudjellal has announced that an All Blacks centre who had won a World Cup was on his way.

The 25-year-old featured for the All Blacks this summer against the British and Irish Lions as an injury replacement, having initially been left out of the squad.

Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal is claiming "the biggest coup of the summer in the transfer market" and that the arrival of the World Cup victor is imminent.

But Toulon released a statement today hosing down speculation, saying until moves had been officially confirmed by the club they were only rumours.

Out of contract at the end of the current season, Fekitoa had previously stated to New Zealand news outlet Stuff that he was in no hurry to decide his future. "For me, it's about getting my game right and enjoying my rugby".

Fekitoa has played 24 tests since his 2014 debut.

Toulon have former All Blacks midfielder Ma'a Nonu on their books and just announced the signing of South African outside back JP Pietersen..
