St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.

The team made the announcement before the game on Tuesday, July 25 that the right-handed was put on the list, retroactive to July 23, due to mid-back tightness. St. Louis will announce a corresponding roster move on Wednesday.

Currently Wainwright is the Cardinals leading pitcher with 11 wins and ERA of 4.89. He also went on the DL in 2008 for right middle finger sprain, 2011 for Tommy John surgery and 2015 for a torn right Achilles. Luke Weaver was scratched from his minor-league start Tuesday, Rob Rains of StLSportsPage.com reports, so it appears that he may step into Wainwright's spot in the rotation.
