In a complementary transaction, the team signed defensive lineman Nelson Adams.

The Denver Broncos placed defensive lineman Billy Winn on injured reserve Saturday after the sixth-year veteran tore the ACL in his right knee during the team's preseason opener Thursday night against the Chicago Bears.

Adams, who wasn't selected during the 2017 NFL Draft, is a 6-foot-3, 287-pound run-stopper out of Mississippi State.

Over his collegiate career with the Bulldogs, Adams racked up 80 total tackles, four sacks and an interception. The Broncos made one move to bulk up the line on Saturday, but another potential loss could set them back even further than they started the day. The Mississippi State product was released by the team on August 5 in favor of defensive back JaCorey Sheperd.

Wolfe did not put weight on his right leg after going down.

Asked about the severity of the injury, Joseph then added: "We're not sure about that, but the first look it wasn't serious, but we'll know more [Sunday]".

Over his National Football League career, Winn has bagged 110 tackles, three sacks and a pair of forced fumbles.
