The Baltimore Ravens have been without quarterback Joe Flacco for the entirety of training camp due to a back issue.

The Ravens play their next preseason game on August 17 against the Miami Dolphins. In the last two-plus weeks, the Ravens have lost three offensive linemen projected to either be starters or top reserves for the entire season: Lewis; starting center candidate John Urschel, who chose to retire on the morning of the team's first training camp workout; and rookie fourth-round guard Nico Siragusa, who tore up his knee in practice. He went through some on-field work with the other quarterbacks and injured vets, but reported his back stiffness to the team and was put on the shelf at the start of training camp on July 27.

Flacco sat out the preseason opener against the Washington Redskins on Thursday night.

17 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft, recorded his first NFL sack midway through the second quarter against Ravens backup quarterback Ryan Mallet.

In his nine National Football League seasons, Flacco has only missed six games, which all came after his ACL tear toward the end of 2015.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will soon return to practice, but he won't play in a game before Baltimore opens the regular season on September 10 at Cincinnati. He will have time to build his rapport during practice, and will get a good test going against Baltimore's stingy defense.
