Bryce Harper injured his knee and had to be removed from the game on a play at first base in which his leg landed awkwardly. Saturday's game was delayed three hours with more inclement weather and the rain conditions came into play right away.

He was replaced defensively by Brian Goodwin, who shifted to right field with Andrew Stevenson taking Harper's place in the lineup.

Earlier in the year, the Nationals lost center fielder Adam Eaton for the remainder of the season due to a torn left ACL which happened under similar circumstances.

The 24-year-old Harper is a five-time All-Star and was the National League MVP in 2015.

The Nationals lead the Giants 2-1 after one inning thanks to a RBI double by Ryan Zimmerman and run-scoring single from Daniel Murphy, but now the Nationals await word on the extent of the injury to Harper.
