North Korea has been pushed further into the diplomatic wilderness, this time by the European Union.

Days before the war of words, the United Nations Security Council, in an exceptional session on Saturday, unanimously adopted the Resolution 2371 to impose new sanctions on the DPRK for ignoring previous resolutions and its recent intercontinental ballistic missile tests.

In a statement Thursday, it says the asset freezes and travel bans were added to the EU's North Korea sanction list to bring the bloc into line with a new U.N. Security Council Resolution. With the new additions, there are now 62 individuals and 50 entities on the EU's North Korea sanctions list, of which 41 persons and seven entities are designated by Brussels autonomously.

The measure is part of the new round of sanctions adopted on August 5 by the United Nations Security Council in response to North Korea's nuclear and missile activities in clear violation of previous U.N. Security Council resolutions. "Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!"

The sanctions also include targeted measures against 13 people and entities linked to Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs.

On Tuesday, Trump issued a controversial warning to the DPRK, saying that threats from the country would be met with "fire and fury like the world has never seen".

Kim will "truly regret it and he will regret it fast" if he utters an overt threat at Guam or any territory belonging to the United States or its allies, Trump added.
