I'm not a big man, I'm a small entity, says Prasoon Joshi

With Pahlaj Nihalani, the "bugbear" for the film trade for curbing the creativity of filmmakers, being removed as the Censor Board chief and replaced by ad man and film lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi, stage seems set for an overhaul in film censorship rules as recommended by the Shyam Benegal committee.

Vidya is joined by Gautami Tadimalla, Narendra Kohli, Naresh Chandra Lal, Neil Herbert Nongkynrih, Vivek Agnihotri, Waman Kendre, T.S. Nagabharana, Ramesh Patange, Vani Tripati Tikoo, Jeevitha Rajasekhar and Mihir Bhuta.

The feeling of optimism was reflected by filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor who said that the industry had high expectations from him. "I only hope he doesn't reverse the work that I started at the CBFC." said Nihalani.

Nihalani will be going back to producing films.

'Congratulations prasoonjoshi_ bahut ummeedein hain aapse (We have a lot of expectations from you),'the filmmaker said.

He also drew flak for snipping out a kiss scene featuring Daniel Craig in the James Bond film "Spectre".

When the news that Pahlaj Nihalani was sacked from the post of Central Board of Film Certification chairman was out, social media truly was abuzz. He is best known for writing songs such as "Maa" from "Taare Zameen Par", "Bolo na" from "Chittagong" and "Zinda" from "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag". Talking to a popular portal, he said that he's happy to "make way" for somebody and that he hopes the new chief carries on with the values he has imbibed in the industry while censoring films.

Asked if he shared similar views, Joshi said, "It is too early for me to answer a lot of questions". I will try and take opinions of people who have good intentions and understand things as it's also very new for me and I don't know exactly how this work is done but I believe that it's important to work.

I don't have any idea about the CBFC functioning and my role as its chief. I want to try and make as much difference as I can with good intent.

I have always been a confident person and more than anything I think, we should do our work responsibly.
