Stop playing against India, focus on Domestic cricket: Javed Miandad advices PCB

Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) not to bother about playing bilateral series with arch-rivals India and instead focus on improving domestic cricket.

Pakistanis cricketers in CPL including Kamran Akmal, Imad Wasim, Wahab Riaz, Shoaib Malik, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Babar Azam, Mohammad Sami, Hasan Ali, and Sohail Tanvir have been told to return in order to represent the local franchises.

"The centrally contracted players were given permission to participate in the CPL and English county season subject to recall if the World XI series took place in mid-September", the PCB said in a statement.

However, the final call over the World XI matches is expected to be taken by the government.

Miandad also pitched ideas to improve the state of cricket in the country, suggesting that the board should hire former cricketers as presidents of various cricket bodies in Pakistan. Although, Pakistan toured India for a short series in December 2012.

Furthermore, Pakistan will be travelling to the United Arab Emirates for a full series against Sri Lanka on September 21. ICC had granted Pakistan to host a series against World XI, comprising of top players from the cricketing fraternity in late September, but owing to Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan in UAE (starting from September 24), the series is likely to be held in mid September.

The National T20 tournament is scheduled to start on August 25 and it runs until September 10.

Players either in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) or English country have been recalled to fulfill their domestic commitments.

"The players have been asked to report for a pre-series fitness testing/training camp, as planned by the national team management and the National T20 tournament that starts in Multan on August 25".
