Football transfer rumours: Llorente to Chelsea and City launch another bid for Jonny Evans

The Baggies have already rejected an £18m offer from City for Evans, but it is understood the player himself is keen on making the move to the Etihad Stadium.

Evans has missed the opening three games of the season with a hamstring problem but the 29-year-old has been named in Northern Ireland's squad for the World Cup qualifiers that start next week.

Jonny Evans will continue being a professional despite interest from Manchester City, according to his Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill.

"I know Jonny's level of professionalism will mean he won't be distracted by the whole thing", O'Neill told Sky Sports.

Albion face Stoke City at The Hawthorns this Sunday, and Pulis said: "We'll see how he is Sunday and if he's fit he'll play for us".

And O'Neill has no doubts the defender is good enough to play for Guardiola's title-chasing City team.

Jonny Evans of West Bromwich Albion celebrates scoring his side's first goal during the Premier League match against Swansea City.

City manager Pep Guardiola is eager to bring in another centre-back before the transfer window closes next week and wanted to finalise a deal for Evans but West Brom have refused to sell the Northern Ireland global, as reported by the Daily Mail.

"That's not being disrespectful to West Bromwich Albion; they've been great for him in the two years he's been there".

They are now four points clear of Czech Republic and can guarantee a second-placed finish in this double header if results go their way.
