Stan Collymore believes that some of Liverpool's players will give Philippe Coutinho stick when he returns to Melwood after the global break.

There had been suggestions from somewhat dubious sources that Coutinho would refuse to play in the UEFA Champions League this term for the Reds, but Ronaldinho's dismissal of such thoughts matches those of supporters.

"This season they will see him give everything for the club - that is the sort of player he is", he is quoted as having said by the Daily Mirror.

"They made it clear how much they wanted him and I am sure that they will come back for him".

Liverpool are still widely expected to lose Coutinho to Barcelona next summer, with some reports that the Merseyside giants are prepared to let him go after the 2018 World Cup.

"The Liverpool fans have nothing to worry about - I do not believe any of the stories about him refusing to play for the club".

Ronaldinho, who spent five years at Barcelona between 2003 and 2008, added: "He (Coutinho) made it clear that he wanted to join Barcelona this summer - he will be disappointed as it is a dream for players to want to play for Barcelona - but I am sure he will still get that chance". It all depends on taking your opportunities.

"Coutinho is the star player in a team that is on the up, a team now that is financially now tremendously well run, well capitalised under Fenway ownership, with the new stadium expansion, with a manager who is in the absolute elite top three or four coaches, highly ambitious".
