CHP Officer Fatally Shoots Man After Report of Gunman at Downtown LA Building

A shooting at a downtown L.A. building involving a California Highway Patrol officer on Wednesday morning resulted in the death of one man, reports ABC7. The building and some surrounding streets were shut down due to the investigation, police said.

Gomez says a CHP officer, who was guarding the building, confronted the suspect and three shots were fired.

The officer-involved shooting was reported at 6:08 a.m. Tuesday at Third Street south of Spring Street, said CHP Officer Christian Cracraft.

A stretch of 3rd Street is closed near Spring Street as CHP officials investigate with help from the Los Angeles Police Department. No officers were injured. His name was not immediately made known.
