Six people suffer breathing problems after 'tear gas attack' at Frankfurt Airport

At least six people were injured after a reported "tear gas attack" at one of the check-in counters in Germany's Frankfurt airport.

Police tweeted that an "unknown person" had sprayed the gas and they were investigating what had happened.

Recent reports emerging from the country's busiest airport confirm that the police and emergency services have declared the airport "all clear" in the wake of the incident.

Frankfurt Airport announced on Twitter the check-in counters are now open and operating as usual.

According to the last information, an unidentified man sprayed the entire area with an irritable substance, the German media reports.

The airport was evacuated over the weekend after a man told police that he was carrying explosives in his luggage.

A taxi driver had alerted officers to the 37-year-old's odd behaviour and they met him as he arrived at Terminal 1 on Saturday evening.
