Earlier this week experts already said that some of the new notes, adorned with Jane Austen's face, could be worth significantly more than £10. The release of the note "will be a repeat of the scramble to find currency with the coveted "AA" serial number".

A new £10 note is due to be released on 14 September, following on from the new £5 note introduced past year.

According to ChangeChecker.com these include 16 121775 and 18 071817, which are the author's date of birth and death, 17 751817, which is Jane Austen's birth and death year combined.

Perhaps easier to spot, the JA01, JA75 and JA17 prefixes will also be popular, representing Jane Austen's initials and her birth and death years.

The design of the tenner that enters circulation this week was unveiled in July.

"I'm absolutely delighted with the new ten pound note".

On the front of the polymer £10 note (the side with raised print), there are two clusters of raised dots in the top left hand corner. "The tactile feature on it makes it very simple for someone with sight loss like myself to know it's definitely a £10 note", 48-year old Ian Morris from Portsmouth, who is blind and gets around with the help of a guide dog, said this week.
