Last week, it was reported that Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) was looking for a USA city to build HQ2, a $5 billion, 50,000-employee second headquarters.

Executives at (AMZN) are pushing for the e-commerce giant's second headquarters to be located in Boston, according to Bloomberg.

Gov. Brian Sandoval says Nevada is looking to become the future site for Amazon's second headquarters.

The city's proximity to Harvard University and MIT, as well as Logan Airport's offering of nonstop flights to Seattle and Washington D.C. are said to be a big plus.

Could Boston be on the verge of luring another big company?

In CNBC's own analysis of where Amazon might put its new HQ, Boston was ranked fifth. That doesn't mean he wants Boston completely out of the running, though.

"We're not going to get into a bidding war with another city for something like this", says Mayor Marty Walsh, fresh off his highly-touted courtship of General Electric's corporate headquarters.

"We are energized by the response from cities across North America who have already reached out to express their interest", Amazon stated.

The new facility would require as many as 50,000 full-time workers.
