Tom Savage has played in six total National Football League games, attempting 105 passes, making him only a little bit more experienced than Watson, who it was reported Tuesday will start for the Texans in Week 2.

Watson ended up completing 12 of 23 passes for 102 yards.

Starting quarterback Tom Savage finished 7-of-13 for 62 yards and was sacked five times in the first half. Palmer reported that Watson took every snap with the first-string offensive line during the walkthrough portion of Tuesday's practice, indicating that he's in line to start against the Bengals.

There was a report on Tuesday that as long as Watson fully practiced after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday, he would get the start this week. Luckily for Houston they will be going up against a team that looked as bad as they did on Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals - the only team this weekend to get shut out.

Unless Watson suffers a setback between now and kickoff, he's scheduled to start his first game since manufacturing a BCS national championship victory over Alabama with a game-winning touchdown pass.

Unfortunately for Watson, it was a little too late to bring the Texans from behind to win this game against the visiting Jaguars.

"He's a playmaker with good instincts and he's young", Texans quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan said. His mobility and elusiveness make him an intriguing fantasy option when facing advantageous matchups, but he figures to see his share of highs and lows early on.

Watson's four-yard strike to Hopkins was the only touchdown of the game for the Texans. He was also sacked six times.

If the three tight ends are not cleared to play, the Texans could promote Evan Baylis from the practice squad.

When asked if the decision would be made at game time O'Brien responded with "maybe. yeah".

I don't want Bill O'Brien going back-and-forth on QBs, let's stick with the guy we traded up for in this year's draft and have him learn on the fly.

The Texans had initially planned to give Watson time to develop behind Savage, but Savage's play changed everything.
