Leon County solid waste pick up resumes today

People who normally have their trash picked up on Monday and Tuesday will have it picked up on Wednesday. Unincorporated Sarasota County and the City of Venice restart their garbage collection Wednesday. A separate contractor will take care of storm debris. Sandbags are a homeowner's responsibility and Solid Waste will NOT be picking them up.

Town of Bluffton residents and businesses may also continue to contact the Town's Customer Service Center at 843-706-4500 for solid waste and recycling curbside pickup concerns, as well as any other concerns with which the Town may be able to help. And debris pickup may not occur on your normal collection day.

Friday, September 15: Normal schedules for trash and recycling will resume.

For the safety of the collection crews, do not place anything beneath low hanging obstacles like trees or power lines or near water meters, fire hydrants, mail boxes and especially downed power lines.

Brevard County's Central Disposal Facility in Cocoa, the Sarno Road Landfill and Transfer Station in Melbourne and Mockingbird Way Mulching Facility in Titusville are open from 7:30 a.m.to 5:30 p.m. daily for people who choose to deliver their debris to a permitted disposal facility themselves.

Only debris generated by the storm event on maintained residential property is eligible for collection. Spoiled contents should be placed in garbage for pickup.

Waste Management is not involved in hurricane debris pickup.

Yard waste from this storm event does not need to be bundled.

Yard waste collection will be suspended until vegetative storm debris has been collected.
