Wallen's family and friends became alarmed last week when she didn't show up for the first day of classes at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia.

A missing pregnant teacher from Olney, Maryland, has been found dead and a suspect has been arrested in her death, police say.

Wallen's family had said they received a "troubling" text message from her about an hour later but attempts to reach her failed.

Laura Wallen, a 31-year-old who was four month pregnant, went missing September 4. Police would not go into detail what the text message said, but it was described as troubling.

On Monday, Wallen's father, Mark, pleaded with the public at a news conference for information on his daughter and was offering a $25,000 reward for anything on her whereabouts, while Tessier, who also spoke, said he was praying Wallen would be found safe. "Her students just adored her as do we and we just want her back".

Tyler Tessier was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, two days after he appeared with her parents and made a plea for her safe return.

"That is all part of a thorough and complete investigation", said Montgomery County Police Capt. Paul Starks.

The "Gathering of Hope" event scheduled for Wednesday evening has been canceled, the school system said.
