Mourinho Fears Pogba Could Be Out "A Few Weeks"

However, things were far from flawless for The Red Devils in this contest. There is no doubt the French is one of the team's most important players, and him missing an extended period of time would be devastating for the club.

Mourinho did, however, laud the return of Belgium worldwide Marouane Fellaini, who came on for the injured Paul Pogba in the first half and scored the opening goal of the clash.

Asked if Fellaini had the problem before the Greece game, Mourinho said: "Yes".

"We played quite well but after 2-0 everything changed", United boss Mourinho told BT Sport. "Big, small, I don't know". I just know from experience it's a muscular injury.

"If you want to anticipate the next weekend [against Everton], I probably play Bailly and Jones because today they didn't play, because they are fresh, because it makes sense for them to play again, but then two days after we have a League Cup match [against Burton] so Victor and Smalling again".

Mourinho said he had "no complaints" about how English football was set up and that he had the option to rest players. We don't cry with injuries. The Frenchman has formed a very smooth partnership with new arrival, Nemanja Matic and Mourinho will now have to look up to the likes of Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.

And honestly, he is right.

Herrera was one of the best players for United last season, and has enough talent to recover his starting spot in midfield. Fellaini has been used as a secret weapon off the bench, but he would form a great partnership alongside Matic. "To play my first match at Old Trafford is something I have really waited for".

Jose Mourinho's side host Everton on Sunday - with Wayne Rooney set to return to Old Trafford for the first time since he left this summer. And considering Pogba likely suffered a hamstring injury, he won't be available for that game - or the next upcoming ones.

The extent of Pogba's injury is unknown, but Mourinho believes he will be without his superstar midfielder for only a few weeks.

According to Mourinho, both Real and Juve enjoyed an easier domestic schedule, pointing to the lack of a winter break in England. And United will have to test their depth in a tough run of fixtures in the coming weeks.
