Alexis benched, Ozil left out & still no start for Hazard

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger tells his side that he still expects a reaction to last month's 4-0 loss at the hands of Liverpool when the Gunners take on Chelsea. Arsenal have not won any of the last 13 Premier League away games against last season's top-six teams and have suffered defeats on seven of their last eight visits to Stamford Bridge.

In the end the ex-Gunner omitted Arsenal players all over the park, acknowledging Cech is "past his best", that Koscielny hasn't played particularly well over the last few seasons, and that none of Arsenal's midfield can justifiably claim to be better than Fabregas, Kante or Hazard. Victories against Tottenham, Everton and Leicester followed which have put Antonio Conte's men in a strong position going into this intriguing clash. Despite getting off to a great start in the Europa League on Thursday, securing a 3-1 win over FC Koln, Arsenal's league form has been somewhat lacklustre as they now lie in 13th in the league standings, but it is still early days.

Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater is expected to be out until the October worldwide break.

Antonio Conte, meanwhile, is still unwilling to risk Eden Hazard following his lengthy lay-off with an ankle injury - the Belgium global will start the fixture on the bench.

Alexis Sanchez has only been named on the bench while Mesut Ozil misses out completely as Arsenal make the trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.

Wenger is without midfielder Francis Coquelin, who has a hamstring problem, while Santi Cazorla remains out of action.

Opta Stats Arsenal have lost their last five away Premier League games versus Chelsea, their joint-longest away losing run in the competition against a single opponent.
