British Open victor Kim In-kyung is in joint fourth along with world number one Lydia Ko and US Open victor Park Sung-hyun, with the trio three shots adrift of Jutanugarn.

She enters the final round looking to add to an already stellar resume here where she has finished inside the top 10 in each of the last three years and just outside in 2013 (T11).

Jutanugarn, whose younger sister Ariya is already major champion, is one shot clear of Japan's Ayako Uehara, who soared with a 66.

"At these major events, the keys are the fairways and greens this week", said Moriya, who is still looking for her first LPGA victory.

This season has been ripe with first-time major winners after Danielle Kang won the KPMG PGA Championship and Sung Hyun Park won at the U.S. Women's Open.

The former world No1 enjoyed the cool conditions which were a far cry from the driving wind and rain which forced organisers to abandon the first day and reduce the tournament to 54 holes.

The 2015 tournament champion said she felt relaxed during her round. "But personally, I feel more comfortable to actually chase those top players from the back".

Fulton's Ally McDonald came into the final LPGA major of the year off back-to-back 15th-place finishes.

Moriya Jutanugarn of Thailand plays a shot during the second round of the Evian Championship.

She claimed her third victory on tour, and first in seven years, at the Thornberry Classic at Wisconsin in July, when she admitted she nearly gave the game in 2015 and 2016 following seasons of struggle.

After a second-round 68 at the weather-shortened Evian, she is in pole position to become her country's second major victor.

"I wasn't feeling too good about my game when I started today, but I played great". I mean, maybe I could go a little bit higher, but that was still good. "Golf is amusing; I wasn't expecting it for sure, but yeah, I kind of surprised myself even, and certainly since then, it's just, yeah, been nice".

Kirk is in good shape this year. "I can win out here, and just keep believing and keep doing the right things, and you never know what happens".

Park had been six over through as many holes when wild weather at Evians Les Bains, France, forced players from the course a day earlier.
