The facility is not the only Florida nursing home that has been left without power by Irma.

"The challenge, I think, for us will be. between here and Marathon", Key West City Manager Jim Scholl said.

The city first "became [aware] a crisis was unfolding at the facility after multiple calls in the early morning hours" Wednesday, city spokesperson Raelin Storey said this morning. The center said it plans to the fight the state's efforts to shut it down.

Some residents there awoke sick, the Miami Herald reported.

An assisted living center that went without power for almost three days said that its efforts to run fans and keep breezes flowing between open windows could only go so far.

"We have been very, very fast and we had to be", Trump said at an airport hangar where he was joined by Vice President Mike Pence, Gov. Rick Scott and other leaders.

The facility reported Tuesday that its fans and spot coolers were in working order, and that it had power, according to the statement. It was the first of three such calls, she said. "Can't give you anything more specific than that at this point".

The deaths at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills on Wednesday stirred outrage over what many saw as a preventable tragedy and heightened concerns about the vulnerability of the state's large elderly population amid widespread, lingering power outages.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department said Wednesday morning that one person was dead and three others taken to a hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator inside a home there, and the department pleaded with people to keep their generators outside. In both instances, the nursing home corrected these deficiencies. Officials evacuated 82 residents from Brookdale on Wednesday night and 40 from Green Tree.

Emergency services evacuate the nursing home in Broward County. There they found "several patients in varying degrees of medical distress", officials said in a report.

Monroe County Emergency Management Director Marty Senterfitt also told reporters Friday that a mass return to the Keys could cause problems.

The Florida Department of Health said that "at no time" did the nursing home "report that conditions had become unsafe or that the health and safety of their patients was at risk".

Police said they have obtained a search warrant for the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, a facility that had a history of citations and poor inspections.

The answer, it seems, depends on whether the question includes the dreaded "double c" term: climate change. Families looking for information can call the hospital hotline at 954-265-1074. "The Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills is responsible for the health and safety of their patients". The statement also revealed that 150 of the 700 facilities in the state of Florida still are not operating with full power services.

"It may be related to a loss of power in the storm", Mr Sanchez said, adding that officers were checking in on 42 other assisted living facilities and nursing homes throughout the city.

The governor said he has ordered a probe by state authorities, and Sanchez confirmed a criminal investigation has been launched.
