It is the another step in the state towards women empowerment.

Mr Naidu was speaking a after laying the foundation stone for the Regional Vocational Training Institute on Saturday at Hyderabad.

Being set up by Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the institute will come up on four acres of land at Vidyanagar at a cost of Rs 19.95 crore.

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that there are 17 such institutions running across the country under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It the duty of all government bodies including gram panchayat, to do everything possible to empower women in the society. Once established in its new permanent building, around 1000 trainees would be trained here every year.

Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu said no nation could progress if women lag behind. The government is now operating 17 such institutes across India. The RVTIs offer training in fashion design and technology, architectural assistantship, cosmetology, front office assistant, secretarial practice (English), food and beverages service assistant. The Hyderabad RVTI is expected to cater to the vocational training needs of 480 women annually in regular courses under Craftsmen Training Scheme and Craft Instructor's Training Scheme. Besides this, 30 per cent of the seats in general ITIs in most of the States were now reserved for women, he said. Five PMKKs which are e-inaugurated today from Hyderabad are located at Etah (Uttar Pradesh), Phulpur (Uttar Pradesh), Singrauli (Madhya Pradesh), Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) and Dhar (Madhya Pradesh).During the event, Vice President also handed over Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certificates and placement certificates to candidates who got placed in different companies.Recognition of Prior Learning recognizes an individual's skills through certification and enhancing their career opportunities.

" There is an additional requirement of 109.73 million skilled manpower by 2022 in 24 key sectors, it is estimated that only 4.7 per cent of the total workforce in India has undergone formal skill training as compared to 68 per cent in United Kingdom, 75 per cent in Germany, 80 per cent in japan and 96 per cent in South Korea", the Vice President said and added the shortage of skilled workforce could be overcome by imparting vocational training.
