Walk to End Alzheimer's walk set for Saturday

Hundreds took part in this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday morning at the Queen Lili'uokalani Gardens Park in Hilo.

The sidewalk of 8th and railroad and throughout Falls Park was lit up in purple as community members and loved ones walked in honor of those battling Alzheimer's disease.

The walk raises funds so the association can help contribute to care support and research initiatives to help find a cure. "It's also the largest convening of people in the state of Colorado who have a personal connection with the disease, and that's really as important for them as it is for us".

Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's participants will complete a two-mile walk and will learn about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer's Association.

More than 5 million Americans are living with the disease.

"I think it was just fabulous, and I want to say to everybody that it was just special that they came out", Annabel Bowlen said.
